Home On The Range – Odder than the Otters Fall Tour

Indie-folk rockers, Odder than the Otters released their debut EP, The Port of Lopez, back in spring and has been steadily building their audience on a local scale. Armed with a new repertoire of songs, the group is ready to hit the road and sprinkle their upbeat dance numbers throughout Central and Western Canada.

On the cusp of kicking off their first ever out-of-province tour, Odder than the Otters spoke with us about finding a balance between partying and being professional, tips for the road and how they develop the perfect setlist.

The Management

Under New Management

Life-long dreams have become a reality with the introduction of Winnipeg’s newest pop-punk offering, The Management. Local genre veterans, Nic Dyson and Brandon Kupiak (Parkview, Minus 40), recently came together to form an indie-folk-pop-punk project that has been a long-awaited dream for Dyson.

On the eve of their first live performance (September 6 at The Handsome Daughter), Nic spoke with us about the project, the overwhelming response to their launch, and what goodies fans (new & old) can expect from the new band.

Ityiwey

Youth in Revolt

Years ago, being young and talented was more than enough to pave a road to eternal happiness, wealth and good health. But alas, the world has changed and youth today are faced with more ruin than remedy.

Pulling inspiration from this destruction, UK’s itoldyouiwouldeatyou presents a musical repertoire full of gripping poetry atop opposing playful beats, creating a moving blend of indie-pop, punk, and emo.

ITYIWEY vocalist, Joey Ashworth, takes us through how they perfectly encapsulated the hopelessness-riddled angst that plagues youth today in their new EP, Get Terrified (April 20).

TheYoungPixels

Feeding Ambition

Life as an independent musician is hard enough. Now try being a mother-and-father folk duo raising three young kids, between writing, recording and running an organic grain farm in rural Manitoba. That’s the unique challenge that Kenton’s The Young Pixels, conquers to continue creating the music they love.

On the cusp of releasing their fifth record, ‘Fever of Becoming,’ (Out April 13) we spoke with Tricia Turner, one half of the married musical duo, about balancing life, internal turmoil, and the inextinguishable voice from your inner dreamer.
