This summer, we’re excited to be the Main Stage Sponsors for the inaugural Sunspot Music Festival in Morristown, Indiana! The multi-band outdoor festival features over 40 acts from in and around the mid-west & east America! Acts range from alt-rock to hip-hop and pop.

We spoke with Nikhil Rao (vocalist/guitarist) from alt-rock/metal outfit, A War Within. They’ll be playing Sunspot Music Fest on June 16th on the SPF Main Stage.

 

SPF: What inspired you to play music?
NR: I was inspired to play rock music when I first heard Green Day in elementary school. There was something so powerful about the sound. I grew into heavier and heavier music as I got older, and I continue to get inspired by new music every day.

SPF: What’s your favorite part of your local music scene?
NR: My favorite part of the local music scene is getting to hear all the amazing music that is being created right here in Indy!

SPF: What’s your favorite part of your live show?
NR: My favorite part of our live show is when the crowd is into the songs and moshes with us. The energy is unreal.

SPF: What’s the one thing you hope people take from listening to your music?
NR: I hope to challenge our listeners with our music to grow and enjoy music on as many levels as possible. That’s what my favorite bands did for me, and I’d like to carry it forward.

SPF: Which band member would you swap places with for one show and why?
NR: I would love to play a gig with John Mayer. I’m a huge fan of his playing and songwriting, and I think I would learn a lot.
